I've made lots of progress on the LHRR in the last few days! I started around the decorative grass; clearing it out as needed and leveling the ground around it (just like I did with the first section of straight I worked on). Next I worked on the West Loop. Either side of this loop climbs to it's peak, so I had to modify the grading and pull out the grass/weeds. At the same time I also edged the garden to it's new limit and fixed a problem with the track geometry. That patch of grass in front of the track in photo below-right will be coming out and a plant going in. This morning the first thing I did was run out to Home Depot and buy four 4x8x16" concrete blocks to lay under turnouts. I dug and leveled two of them today. I also cleared and leveled the rest of this curve shown below. In doing so I removed almost an entire ground-plant. It's what will be going in that grass patch I mentioned above. I'm going to wait until the spring to lay the weed barrier & ballast. I don't have the time or money to do it right now. My hope is that I an get at least one other stone leveled. The others can wait since I don't have the turnouts for them yet anyway.
