There's a lot of updates to share on the Leeds Hill Railroad. Most are just bullet points, but one major thing takes precedent: I am rebuilding the railroad in my new home. Scroll down to see the plan and photos of early progress. Since it's already mid-October I most likely won't have anything running until next spring.
As for the Leeds Hill Railroad II...
The above photos are from the first test of track laying. They have shown me a few things.
First, I did a terrible job measuring the garden. I had to re-engineer the top half of the loop completely. It now looks more like a mirror of the bottom half. Second, the decorative grass will need to be reduced (see first photo, right of the track). There is not enough clearance for the trains to pass. I'll need at least a couple more inches. Third, the landscape needs work. There's about a 2-inch drop right at the corner of the house and the track will have a major incline to climb if left as-is. It'll need building up. Finally, there is a lot of undergrowth to clear away. It's my plan to remove it now so it won't grow back in the spring, but I'm quickly running out of time!
